This year saw the continued development of artificial intelligence (AI), reshaping what humans can accomplish with the digital tools at our disposal. We have only begun to unravel the many creative, effective, and life-changing applications of AI. Not surprisingly, as a former emergency medicine physician and cancer research advocate, I am particularly excited and hopeful about the potential of AI in improving healthcare outcomes.

I know firsthand the complex demands healthcare providers face, and AI is poised to assist doctors in caring for our patients and communities. Artificial Intelligence can assist clinicians in forming faster diagnoses allow for faster diagnoses with its unprecedented computing power, enabling physicians to develop and initiate treatment plans much sooner.

Furthermore, AI is poised to accelerate the development of innovative, life-saving therapeutic agents and treatments. Researchers will be able to lean on AI machine learning to analyze information and data sets at a rate not previously imaginable, let alone possible. As a result, we have the opportunity to offer novel medical and surgical interventions - potential cures - for countless disease processes.

These, and many more positive impacts, are on the horizon for the future of healthcare if we properly embrace and utilize AI. While healthy skepticism and thoughtful oversight are absolutely necessary, over-regulation or excessive restrictions of AI threatens to stifle the immense value of this inventive technology. America leas the world in innovation. This current tech revolution demands that we remain at that forefront by implementing AI in our vital healthcare sector.
